It's very rare for entire cosmetic products to achieve Demeter biodynamic certification requiring greater than 90% certified ingredients and certified production methods as Apodea have already done with much of the range, since Demeter standards are particularly stringent. Biodynamics and Demeter originate from the holistic agricultural approach proposed by Rudolf Steiner in the 1920s when he also raised an early alarm regarding the dangers of industrial farming methods. Biodynamic methods provide not simply great 'clean' and sustainable products, they aim to leave land more fertile than before and to strongly encourage nature's forces. Demeter International, founded in 1928 is the world's oldest organic certification body with members in 43 countries.
